This quaint little country town has quickly become the cult classic of Southern Georgian Bay. At just over 1,100 in population and a titch over an hour from Toronto, Creemore real estate punches way above its weight in beauty, atmosphere and variety of real estate.

A great big heart

Located a few miles west of Highway 124, Creemore real estate is ideally situated, surrounded by rolling hills close to the confluence of the Mad and Noisy rivers. It began as a tiny farming settlement in 1842. Its name, coined in 1845, belies the town’s Irish roots, as it was derived from the Irish cron mor, meaning ‘big heart’. Four pre-19th Century churches are still in use, and historical plaques dot the town.

Bustling quiet

Creemore is quaint and quiet 95 percent of the time. But it does see quite a few tourists year-round. Cyclists and motorcyclist love it as a summer destination, as do snowmobilers in the winter. Creemore has a lively arts and music scene, with several galleries lining the main street. It is also home to a disproportionate number of festivals, from arts and children’s festivals to music, vintage cars and the well-known Copper Kettle festival that celebrates the beer that put Creemore on the map.

Town & country

The tree-lined streets and neighbourhoods of Creemore are lovely, but many Creemorites choose to live outside of town in the rolling hills or by a musical riverside. In-town century homes boast large lots and mature maple and oak trees. There are a few new bespoke builds that fit in nicely, and everything is a short walk to shops, cafés and restaurants.

Creemore real estate Country properties are mostly scattered throughout the surrounding hills. Spectacular views, acreage and proximity to the GTA are what attract most buyers, although there are many more compelling reasons to choose Creemore: a 20-minute drive to the beaches of Georgian Bay and less than a 15-minute drive to skiing at Devil’s Glen or golf at Mad River, Batteaux, Duntroon Highlands and Osler Brook, for starters. If you’re looking for quaint, quiet as well as fantastic views, Creemore is hard to beat.
